“Hey,” Shepard’s arms shot out to steady her, a hand around her back for support. A walk around the room seemed like a good start, if she could manage it. To be honest, it looked like she could — but there was a difference between being able to and wanting to be able to.
“Take it easy. Go slowly, then you’ll get the hang of it,” He told her, releasing his grip on her waist so he wouldn’t make her uncomfortable, before repeating; “Baby steps.”
Megan just nodded, “Thanks…” she muffled under her breath. She then started to take just baby steps, steadily herself by placing a hand on a nearby table. Few moments had passed, and Megan started to take bigger steps. Soon as she thought she had it, she fell, bum first on the floor.
“I’m fine, I’m fine–” Megan spoke out, as she stood up ’Sometimes you need to run, before you can walk…’ Her thoughts spoke to themselves. Getting up she started taking more, and more steps. Until a few moments passed where all the numbness in her legs had passed away.
“Think I should be fine now…well, better.” Looking around at the man “So…Shepard, right? What exactly is it that you do?” Megan was now fishing for well-needed answers.
